Bungle and K9

So anyway, Ping and I are doing a wine course on Monday evenings. Today, the instructor mentioned that one of his colleagues is (when not running wine tastings) the voice of K9. Not only is he the voice of K9, but he also used to be the voice of Bungle.

Naturally, I didn't believe a word of it, but it seems to be true. That's right: K9 and Bungle were the same guy. Am I the only one who didn't know about this?

(Obligatory filthy YouTube / Rainbow link here.)

I didn't know that. I do know John Leeson goes to Waitrose with Peter Miles, the actor who played Nyder in Genesis of the Daleks (and schoolfriend of Dusty Springfield). Peter Miles that is, not Daleks.

a href="http://imdb.com/name/nm0498770/">IMDB says so, it must be true... Does this mean that if your regular instructor is sick one day, you might get K9 subbing? Cool.

Sad nit-picker that I am, I note that there actually is an error on the Leeson IMDB entry: he didn't play K9 in "Power of Kroll", K9 was stuck in long grass that whole story, so Leeson got to play an on-screen oh-thats-what-he-looks-like character called Obviously Expendible or some such.

John Leeson was a very well known voice actor in the 70s and 80s. I guess his popularity has waned a little over the years. To fry your mind a little more, he also sets questions for mastermind from time to time :-)

You are also aware that Roy Skelton was the voice of both the Daleks and Zippy from Rainbow?

No, I wasn't aware of that. In fact, I suspected a wind-up so strongly that I googled before posting this reply. Gosh. Live and learn, eh?
