I remember a spare-time project (a.k.a displacement activity) I undertook while I was a student to produce a piano transcription of the Adagietto from Mahler's Fifth Symphony. At one stage I discussed with a friend what the most absurd arrangement would be: four piccolos and euphonium was, I think, the answer.
